Maid of horror and why I don't have a girl best friend

Last Sunday, I was asked by our small group leader this question, "May maid of honor ka na?"

I answered; "Wala kasi akong best friend na babae."

She then told me to get my younger sister, Iya. But I always get into fights with her (I blocked her on Facebook), and I already appointed her and her boyfriend to sing for my wedding. And then she suggested, "Si Itzel kaya?" and I thought, Why not? But then, Itzel is almost 4 years younger than me, doesn't even know anything about weddings. I believe maids-of-honor help in wedding planning and all that, so, no, I cannot probably get our bunso to be my maid-of-honor.

So why don't I have a girl best friend?

Let me get this straight, I do have friends. I have a huge high school barkada, Kerot, made up of 8 girls and 3 boys.

I have probably six to 10 friends from UP. And a small group of friends from church.

I don't have a girl best friend because IMHO, boys are better best friends than girls. No offense!

Let me tell you why:

1. Being friends with guys are much more easier for a person like me. I have intimacy issues, just like other guys.
2. They honor the code - Bros before 'hos. Guy friends are more loyal. Girl friends always always choose their lovers over their friend. And when that lover leaves them, who's got their back? Their best friend! The one they ignored for that prick. Girls never listen. Girls never learn. I'm a girl, been there, done that. Thank God for a guy friend who listens to me rant endlessly whenever I get hurt.
3. I get to know more about boys by being with boys.
4. Eating! I remember my high school days! My three Kerot boys, Ferdie, Babs, and Raj would always go with me to Mcdo or BK to eat. Sometimes we even walk from Quesci to the toknene-an near Mcdo Mindanao to eat penoy & pugo. I love eating
5. They're protective of you and are good bodyguards. Because you're a girl. Hihihi!
6. Humor and laughter. I have a weird sense of humor and my fiance could attest to that. I don't have a pa-girl laugh. And there are some jokes I crack that only guys can get.
7. No tampuhan! Before, Kerot got into a small fight because we made up a codename for Krung, and she got really mad at us. I was left with the three Kerot boys because we invented that codename (Bilibid). Hahaha! But I also remember Babs got mad at me because I made him cry because of a joke. I've hurt a lot of people I know, but only boys can roll with it. Tampuhan for girls lasts about a week or two, while guys manage to handle it in just an hour.
8. Guys do dumb and crazy stuff. My high school is filled with memories. T.T I missed them. I missed playing House of The Dead with Raj. I missed laughing out loud and cutting classes with Babs. I missed Ferdie so much and I blame him for saying that I won't find someone like him when high school is over. But people change, and we don't do dumb and crazy stuff anymore, maybe not together.

Girls are good friends too. For the wedding, they can really be helpful. Anyone of you wants to volunteer?

Let me tell you why girls are better maids-of-honor:

1. They can help you decide. (Pink or light pink, beads or lace, hair up or hair down)
2. They can be with you in the dressing room (Boys are not allowed to see you in your naked glory)
3. They can help you shop. (Girls are very good shopping buddies.)
4. They can be a good judge for your hair, dress, and make-up. (If it's positive criticism, I'd have it)
5. They are emotional creatures who will hold your hand, cry with you, laugh with you, and be happy for you pre-wedding, during the wedding, and post-wedding.
6. A maid of honor is supposed to be a girl.
